Proposal Training
Proposal training should be built into your proposal propcess...Most people learn how to prepare proposals on the job, without ever having attended any formalized proposal training. Pro-Methods believes that this is inefficient with the result that your staff “learns by losing. The price that you pay is the submission of lower quality non-compliant proposals—and you continue to pay the price until your staff is up to speed.
Pro-Methods prefers to provide proposal training for your staff at your facility. Boosting the skills of your staff can also requires a combination of internal and external resources and could involve techniques such as instructor-led learning. However, we believe that proposal training should be built into the proposal process - the workflow of your organization, instead of being something separate. We believe that it is even better to make it a part of the development and implementation of an actual proposal that you will be submitting. Instead of a classroom instructor, you provide the project team and Pro-Methods will provide the coach, mentor, or facilitator, and use an actual proposal that you are submitting as the training exercise.
If your goal is to change your win rate, then your approach should require your staff to have defined roles and do specific things. Whenever possible, proposal tasks should be automated using tools that have been designed to complement your proposal process and workflow. Pro-Methods can assist you in developing the checklists, templates, and other job aids that can enhance your performance and reduce the need for training. What remains is that everyone in your organization involved in the proposal process will be working from the same page, fulfilling your organizations goals, objectives and expectations.
